As many of you know, we’ve been working extensively with the Microsoft team across Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, Visual Studio, and overall go-to-market efforts. Our collaboration continues this week at Microsoft’s BUILD conference in San Francisco, where we’re showcasing our work with the Microsoft team on their new Nano Server.
In short, the Nano Server is a purpose-built operating system designed to run born-in-the-cloud applications and containers. Nano Server is a deeply refactored version of Windows Server with a small footprint and remotely managed installation, optimized for the cloud and a DevOps workflow.
We’re already working to ensure that Chef works seamlessly with the Nano Server in a continuous deployment and management workflow. In fact, Microsoft just published a video demonstrating our ongoing integration work:
In the coming weeks we’ll be working closely with the Nano Server team on integration, so you can use Chef to easily build and configure infrastructure on top of Nano Server. The result will be increased speed and reliability in developing and updating Windows infrastructure.
