The defect allows any local user on the system hosting the Chef Server’s PostgreSQL components full access to databases. On Thursday June 5th at approximately 14:00 UTC, the CHEF engineering team was made aware of OpenSSL CVE-2014-0224. A bug in the OpenSSL framework could permit a MITM attack under certain circumstances using a carefully constructed request. Due to the nature of this vulnerabilty, we recommend that you upgrade your installations immediately.

Hello Chefs, We’ve got a release candidate ready for the open source Chef server 11.1.0, 11.1.0-rc.2 It’s a .2 because an earlier release candidate was lacking a Rails CVE update for the WebUI. The release candidate contains several new features, such as full IPv6 support and a new chef-server-ctl upgrade command.
