Giving back to communities is part of Chefs culture. This year, at ChefConf, we’re giving back to the Austin community by hosting a hands-on Packathon event.
Chef is excited to announce our support of Play to Learn in Austin. PTL helps parents who cannot afford to send children to child care centers learn the skills they need to foster school readiness at home. Each week, the parents and their children focus on a skill like Emotion Regulation or Numeracy through guided bilingual activities with certified teachers. At the end of the class, each family gets to take home the week’s materials to continue practicing that skill at home. At the end of the 10 weeks, each family gets a tablet preloaded with educational apps and bookmarked pages, a login to download free books from the public library, and ways to stay connected to Play To Learn parent groups.
Nearly 100 ChefConf attendees are participating in the Packathon taking place Sunday, May 21st at the JW Marriott. While all hands-on participation spots are filled for the Packathon event, donations are welcome – the more donations we get, the more bags we can pack for families!
Visit the PTL Donation Portal and indicate “ChefConf” in the Donation Information/Project Name area. Every dollar raised, helps families in need.
Conference passes are still available to attend ChefConf 2017, May 22-24 in Austin, TX. Register for ChefConf!
