The volume of posts on our blog has continued to increase as our company and community have grown. While all of the content has been awesome, we’ve received many requests for a dedicated channel about security and release announcements.

On March 9th, I presented a live webinar on the Chef Workflow – a set of tools and a series of well-defined steps that support the DevOps principles of automation, collaboration and transparency. With the Chef workflow, you can progress from local development to collaboration across teams.

We are happy to announce a new ChefDK, version 0.12.0, has landed in the stable channel and is available for download on the Get Chef downloads site. There has not been much in the way of updates to the DK itself, but there have been updates to several of the dependent packages we bundle.

Chef Compliance 0.16.9 is now available from the Chef downloads site. This is a minor release update which is recommended for all users of Chef Compliance.

I’m pleased to announce we’ve released a cookbook to build a multiplayer server for Factorio. If you don’t know, Factorio is a resource gathering game with real-time strategy and survival elements, development by Wube Software.

Do you know about ChatOps? With ChatOps, you run tool commands from within a chat client. The client is configured so that it can execute those commands, which means everyone who’s participating in the conversation can see what’s happening in real time.

Ohai Chefs! We’re excited to announce that we’ve moved all of Chef Software Inc.’s public distribution services to packages.chef.io. Under the hood packages.chef.io leverages Bintray, the software distribution platform created by JFrog. We’ve made this transition to provide a more seamless, better performing experience to our users.

We recently announced the general availability of Chef Client 12.8 that includes support for running in a FIPS 140-2-compliant mode. FIPS, the Federal Information Processing Standard, is primarily used within the United States Federal Government as a standard for information systems security.
