Ohai Chefs! We’re excited to announce that we’ve moved all of Chef Software Inc.’s public distribution services to packages.chef.io. Under the hood packages.chef.io leverages Bintray, the software distribution platform created by JFrog. We’ve made this transition to provide a more seamless, better performing experience to our users.

We recently announced the general availability of Chef Client 12.8 that includes support for running in a FIPS 140-2-compliant mode. FIPS, the Federal Information Processing Standard, is primarily used within the United States Federal Government as a standard for information systems security.

We just released Chef Client version 12.8.1 to the chef downloads site. Highlights of this release include: Support for OpenSSL validation of FIPS Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) is a United States government computer security standard that specifies security requirements for cryptography. The current version of the standard is FIPS 140-2.

Chef Compliance 0.15.13 is now available from the Chef downloads site. This is a minor release update which is recommended for all users of Chef Compliance.

Ohai Chefs!  We are delighted to announce the release of some exciting new features in Chef Delivery. Delivery now supports native management of runtime dependencies. After declaring dependencies in your project’s config.json file, the dependency relationships are visible in the GUI.

Supermarket 2.4.2 is now available. This release contains a bug fix and security updates. Supermarket version 2.4.2 is a recommended update for all users running their own instances of Supermarket. Packages are available in the stable repository.

Manage 2.2.0 is now available from the Chef downloads site. Manage 2.2.0 is a security release to address a number of CVEs in OpenSSL, curl, Rails and Redis. It is recommended that all users of the Chef Management Console upgrade. The full change log is available here: https://manage.chef.

UPDATE: We’ve identified a bug that requires the users to login using the Full name previously provided during the `/#/setup` mode. We are going to release a new package to rectify this soon. Chef Compliance 0.15.2 is now available from the Chef downloads site.
