A few months back, we got involved in an awesome organization, the Ada Developers Academy, which is an intensive software developer training school for women. One component of our participation is to provide an internship for an Ada Developers Academy student.

Yesterday api.berkshelf.com suffered periodic outages over about an eight hour window. Upon learning of the outage, we worked with the core berkshelf team to identify the cause; the Heroku dyno was hitting its memory quota.

This morning at the OpenStack Summit in Atlanta, our friends at Red Hat announced their new ManageIQ Community, which aims to be a one-stop shop for open source cloud management, including governance, automation, and tons of content.

We’re very excited to be at the OpenStack Summit this week in Atlanta, there’s a whole lot going on. On Wednesday we’ll be sharing booth E14 (next to the demo theater) with our friends at Blue Box, stop by, get some swag and say “hi”!

Hello Chefs, We’ve got a release candidate ready for the open source Chef server 11.1.0, 11.1.0-rc.2 It’s a .2 because an earlier release candidate was lacking a Rails CVE update for the WebUI. The release candidate contains several new features, such as full IPv6 support and a new chef-server-ctl upgrade command.

In the coming weeks Chef will be publishing excerpts from an upcoming collection of editorials entitled The Quiet Revolutionaries, featuring some of the brightest minds in DevOps and web-scale IT. We’ve joined with Devops.com to serialize these essays leading up to the publication of the entire collection, right here at getchef.com.
