api.berkshelf.com outage and corrective actions
Yesterday api.berkshelf.com suffered periodic outages over about an eight hour window. Upon learning of the outage, we worked with the core berkshelf team to identify the cause; the Heroku dyno was hitting its memory quota.

Chef Joins Red Hat’s ManageIQ Community
This morning at the OpenStack Summit in Atlanta, our friends at Red Hat announced their new ManageIQ Community, which aims to be a one-stop shop for open source cloud management, including governance, automation, and tons of content.

Release Candidate for Open Source Chef Server 11.1.0
Hello Chefs, We’ve got a release candidate ready for the open source Chef server 11.1.0, 11.1.0-rc.2 It’s a .2 because an earlier release candidate was lacking a Rails CVE update for the WebUI. The release candidate contains several new features, such as full IPv6 support and a new chef-server-ctl upgrade command.
