Earlier this week a critical security vulnerability was uncovered in the Kubernetes API server. The vulnerability, CVE-2018-1002105, uncovers an attack vector that would allow an unprivileged or unauthenticated user to escalate their privileges and run arbitrary commands with cluster-admin level access.

Digital security continues to be a critical area of focus for enterprises. This should not be a surprise given the continuous drumbeat of serious security breaches in the news as hackers seek to exploit databases full of valuable customer information.

Until now, there have only been two approaches to deal with business-critical legacy applications written in a pre-cloud era: rewrite them, which is a painful, risky and long-lived process (and in some cases, not possible); or lift-and-shift, which doesn’t address the underlying technical debt or the difficulty of managing and deploying this software.

It has been almost two years since I became involved with Learn Chef Rally and it has been a blast! When the new learning platform launched at ChefConf 2017 it was limited in scope, only providing Chef learning tutorials.
