Chef Infra Client includes more than 150 built-in resources to manage files, packages, templates, and services. You can extend existing or create new resources via Custom Resources. These help you encapsulate logic so that the end-user does not need to worry about how to install or configure the application at a low level.

Today, I’m excited to announce the release of Chef Infra Client 17. Chef Infra Client 17 builds upon our efforts to make Chef Infra easier to use for a wider range of audiences and use cases. Chef Infra Client 17 includes increased platform coverage, improved cloud support, and improvements to our Chef Infra language.

Chef Infra Client 17 is on its way, simplifying how IT teams automate their infrastructure!  The release of Chef Infra 17 is packed with features, upgrades and improvements, including adoption of Test Driven Development (TDD) practices.  Chef is hosting a live launch event on Wednesday, April 28. We go live at 9:00 AM PT with a fun–packed, hour-long session featuring Chef Infra Product Manager, Tim Smith and Benny Vasquez, Chef Community and DevRel Manager.

Today, Progress Software announced updates to the Chef portfolio and community program to build on that heritage.
