I’m pleased to announce two Chef vRA 7.0+ Blueprints for both Windows and Linux from Chef. They are basic, initial integrations, and have an example that demonstrates how to bootstrap the chef-client into a cataloged virtual machine.

Jessica DeVita and I recently had the pleasure of speaking at The Incredible Automation Day in Paris, France. TIAD has themes around learning to learn, experimentation, cloud, IoT, and de-automating ourselves. That last one, de-automating ourselves, was particularly intriguing to me. That concept can be taken several ways.

DevOps Enterprise Summit is a conference dedicated to helping individuals and companies navigate their DevOps journeys. Over 1300 DevOps practitioners (new and experienced alike) from organizations like Target, Disney, IBM and Walmart came together, November 13-15 in San Francisco, to share inspiring stories and cautionary tales.

DevOps in Nashville The Chef team was recently in Nashville as a silver sponsor at the first-ever DevOpsDays BNA (those who love airports will recognize the local 3 letter code). The event was held on November 10th and 11th, right downtown next to the honky tonks and Johnny Cash Museum.

During the webinar “Better Tools for a Better Life” I stressed the importance of code snippets to increase your efficiency. I found that two of the editors I used during the presentation, and in my every day practice, were lacking support for InSpec.

We’re happy to announce the release of ChefDK 1.0.3! The decision to promote ChefDK to 1.0 was made with input from the community at the 2016 Chef Community Summit in Seattle – a reflection of ChefDK’s maturity and stability. Release Highlights Foodcritic Foodcritic constraint updated to require v8.0 or greater.

Habitat is Chef’s solution for application packaging and delivery: automation that travels with the application. This is the first in a multi-part series on the concepts behind Habitat. Application Automation is a big topic and relies upon multiple services from packaging, to service discovery, to runtime supervision, and deployment topologies.
