Our friends at OmniTI are hosting the fourth annual Surge: a conference dedicated to scalability and performance that brings together the best and brightest in Web Operations. The conference is being held September 12-13 in the National Harbor waterfront district just outside of Washington, DC.

The Opscode Community Summit is a unique opportunity for open-source contributors, Opscode engineers, and Chef users of all experience levels to come together and share their passion and excitement for Chef. The third annual Opscode Community Summit will be held November 12 and 13 at the Hyatt Olive 8 in downtown Seattle, Washington.

We’ve brought the Opscode wiki and ticketing systems back online after working closely with our vendor to resolve the issue that led to the security breach. Out of caution, we’ve restored the data in both of these systems from a backup taken on 30 July 2013.

You may have heard of BlueKai. They’re a mover-and-shaker in “big data”, giving marketers, agencies, and organizations of all types a SaaS platform for ‘activating data’.

Opscode, working in conjunction with our software vendor, is in the final stages of resolving issues created by the recent security breach. We plan on bringing our public wiki and ticketing system back online Monday, August 5th at 1:00 PM Pacific Time.

What Happened? A vulnerability in the third-party software that runs our Open Source Chef wiki and ticketing system was exploited to gain access to that particular system. While on this system, the attacker gained escalated privileges and downloaded the user database for the wiki and ticketing system. What information was exposed?
